Enactment of S-1586 Would Achieve the Following

• Resolve retroactively and prospectively the appropriate application of the BPPT.
• Ensure corporate entities pay their fair share of municipal property taxes.
• Provide some relief to residential property taxpayers.
• Acknowledge Verizon’s conduct as an attempt to intimidate and inappropriately coerce settlements.
• Improve the BPPT so it is a reliable source of municipal revenue.
• Reduce the unfortunate misuse of scarce judicial and municipal resources.

What Can You Do to Protect Your Municipality

• Contact your State Senator and Assembly members and ask them to support and co-sponsor S-1586.
• Adopt a municipal resolution (DOC) to support clarifying the Telecommunication Industry Corporate Tax Responsibilities.
