Congress is attempting to utilize the budget reconciliation process to pass legislation that includes President Trump’s priorities. Members of Congress from New Jersey and elsewhere are advocating for an increase in the State and Local Tax (SALT) cap deduction from $10,000. The cap has existed at this level since the 2017 passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The League has consistently advocated for restoration of Full Deductibility of State and Local Taxes, including the 2019 League Conference Resolution, and appreciates the strong support of our congressional delegation on this issue.
This situation is still very fluid, and we will report as developments warrant.
