The Division of Local Government Services (Division) has issued Local Finance Notice 2026-02 (LFN), providing general information regarding the Length of Service Awards Program (LOSAP) along with the annual cost-of-living adjustment to the maximum award amounts based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
The increase in CY2025 for use in CY2026 is 3.3% for municipal programs and 3.1% for fire districts. Please be advised that due to the 2025 Federal government shutdown, the CPI adjustment for municipal programs is calculated using the current year CPI from August 2025 and the prior year CPI from August 2024.
If your municipality has a LOSAP, please review the LFN with your Chief Financial Officer.
