The Division of Local Government Services within the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has announced the FY 2026 Local Recreation Improvement Grant (LRIG) program allowing municipalities an opportunity to apply for funding to improve and repair public recreational facilities. The LRIG program is designed to enhance access to safe, inclusive, and modern recreational spaces such as parks, playgrounds, pools, trails, and community centers. The $10 million is appropriated in the FY2026 budget for this initiative with a recommended maximum award of $75,000 per project.
Applications are currently being accepted through the NJDCA SAGE Portal and must be submitted no later than February 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Award notifications will be issued in spring 2026, and funded projects are expected to commence upon approval.
