The FP&S grant provides funding for initiatives that improve public safety and firefighter protection. The primary goal is to reduce injury and prevent death among high-risk populations. In 2005, Congress revived funding for the Firefighter Prevention and Safety, broadening the eligible applications of these funds to include research and development aimed at enhancing firefighter safety.
The total funding available is $32.4 million, with an expectation that 100 awards will be distributed nationwide. Applications must be submitted through the FEMA GO grant management platform.
Municipalities and eligible organizations can apply for the FP&S grants between May 23 and July 3.
