On Tuesday, the Assembly Select Committee on Ballot Design held its organizational meeting and heard from New Jersey county clerks, election officials, and a national expert from the National Conference of State Legislators on ballot design and elections.
Assembly Leadership created this select committee as a result of the Kim v. Hanlon court case where the plaintiff successfully alleged that primary ballot placement is not equal. For more information, please read the League’s blog post from earlier this year.
The committee will hold public hearings that may result in legislative changes to ballot design. We will share those dates when they are announced.
