Center for Regenerative Solutions (CRS) and Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN), through USDA Forest Service IRA Funding, have new grant opportunities for capacity building and workforce development! This initiative aims to accelerate urban forestry through the launch and management of Community Forest Corps and Fellowship programs.
Community Forest Corps: This program focuses on sustaining tree canopy in climate-vulnerable communities by empowering and employing youth. Participants will provide community-based tree care and protection while gathering critical urban heat data to develop urban forestry-based cooling strategies.
Urban Forestry Equity Fellowship Program: This fellowship places individuals from diverse backgrounds in jurisdictions that have shown progress in urban forestry initiatives. Fellows will collect urban heat data and enhance tree care and maintenance through the Community Forest Corps.
Available Funding
- Individual Sub-Awards: Ranging from $100,000 to $600,000 over a 3-year period, based on the scope of work, project areas, partnerships, and applicant capabilities.
- Total Funding: A minimum of $5,500,000 is available.
- Cost-Share/Match: Not required for sub-award agreements.
Grant Eligibility
- Eligible Applicants: Municipal/county-level jurisdictions, Tribes, and community-based nonprofit organizations.
- Impact Requirement: All projects must directly benefit disadvantaged communities as defined by the EPA IRA Disadvantaged Communities Map.
