Since its organizational meeting on October 29, the Assembly Select Committee on Ballot Design has held a virtual hearing and two field hearings – one in Newark and one in Mays Landing to receive public input on New Jersey’s ballot design. The final public hearing will be virtual on December 2 and advanced registration is required to testify.
Assembly Leadership created this select committee as a result of the Kim v. Hanlon court case where the plaintiff successfully alleged that primary ballot placement is not equal. For more information, please read the League’s blog post from earlier this year.
The committee is expected to make legislative recommendations to codify the court decision for the Assembly to consider before the 2025 elections.
