[ARCHIVED] Day 4 of the NJLM Virtual Conference

Don’t forget to visit the Exhibit Hall for live interaction between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. today! The fourth day begins with a welcome from League President Jim Perry.
 
At 9 a.m., Cannabis Legalization: Now What, NJLM 1st Vice President Janice Kovach and Assemblyman Joe Danielsen will discuss the specifics of the anticipated legislation and what it means for municipal governments.
 
Also at 9 a.m., NJ Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver and DLGS Director Melanie R. Walter will provide an update on the State’s CARES Funding and COVID Response.
 
The William M. Cox Symposium at 9 a.m.-noon is a lively, must-attend session for all board members, attorneys, municipal officials, and other decision-makers who struggle with the complexities of the Municipal Land Use Law and local ordinances. A rare opportunity to hear interpretations from highly recognized NJPO attorneys who accept and answer audience questions.       
                                         
Chatroom for Newly Elected Officials at 10 a.m. will provide forums where delegates can interact and discuss the issues of interest they have in common.
 
Get the latest from Shared Services Czars Jordan Glatt and Nicolas Platt at the Shared Services Update with the Czars at 11 a.m. or review the Status of Public Health in New Jersey with NJDOH Commissioner Judith Persichilli.   
 
At 12:15 p.m., take a break to watch the event’s Keynote Address by Governor Phil Murphy, with an introduction by NJLM President Jim Perry. After the speech, enjoy a presentation on this year’s inductees to the Mayor’s Hall of Fame and the Elected Officials Hall of Fame.
 
Join in the Holland ethics discussion session, Enhancing Moral Courage in Government. Starting at 1:30 p.m., the session is a conversation with Lt. Governor Sheila Y. Oliver, Rutgers University President Jonathan Holloway and Eagleton Institute of Politics Director John Weingart, and Former NJ AG John J. Farmer, Jr. Topics will include police reform and the attempted reorganization of Rutgers University. The exchange will be followed by an open Q&A session with local officials and others attending the League's conference.
