LEAGUE STATEMENT ON COAH

Today, the motion before the Council on Affordable Housing (COAH) to adopt its “3rd round” regulations did not pass in a 3-3 vote. In response, League Executive Director Bill Dressel issued the following statement:

“The need for legislative reforms to the Fair Housing Act was already clear. So COAH’s inability to adopt its regulations today again underscores the need for the Legislature and the Administration to work with municipalities and craft meaningful reforms to the Fair Housing Act. Absent the obviously needed reforms, we are faced with years of additional litigation, with time and resources being spent on legal billings instead of affordable housing. ”
