We look forward to seeing you next week in Atlantic City at the Annual New Jersey League of Municipalities Conference. Since most of the League staff will be in Atlantic City starting Monday, there will be no Weekly Roundup next Wednesday, November 19, or on Wednesday, November 26, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Any urgent or timely alerts will be sent via a Daily Update. The next Weekly Roundup will go out on Wednesday, December 3.

PILOT Legislation Released From Senate Committee 

Legislation that requires municipalities to share PILOT funds with the schools was amended and released by the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee on Monday and referred to the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee.

Governor-Elect Launches Transition Website and Resume Portal  

Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill’s Gubernatorial Transition team announced the launch of a gubernatorial transition website, which will serve as a temporary hub for information about the transition and opportunities for New Jersey residents to get involved.

NJ Municipalities November Issue: Haddonfield Black Heritage Trail Marker 

The NJ Municipalities blog focuses this week on the New Jersey Historical Commission’s (NJHC) unveiling of a New Jersey Black Heritage Trail historical marker in Haddonfield Borough at The Point of the intersection of Ellis and Potter Streets on borough-owned and maintained land.

Federal Government Shutdown Likely to End 

The partial federal government shutdown, which has been ongoing since October 1, is expected to end when the House passes the Senate's short-term funding bill. The government will reopen, and funding will be restored through January 30.

Many grant programs have been impacted by the federal government shutdown, which may result in delays, assistance, and the release of funding opportunities.

Conference Connections


NJLMEF Kickoff Event Focuses on Security 

Start the Conference this year with the 3rd Annual League Foundation Kickoff Breakfast at 9:00 a.m. at the Atlantic City Convention Center. At 9:30 a.m., Lieutenant Colonel David Sierotowicz, Homeland Security Branch Command, NJ State Police, will speak on homeland security issues and human trafficking as we approach the Nation’s 250th Celebrations and hosting the 2026 World Cup. 

Breakfast is free, but registration is required in advance. 

Film Ready NJ Workshop 

Join the New Jersey Motion Picture & Television Commission (NJMPTVC) and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) for the Film Ready NJ Workshop starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Attending this Workshop is the first step to becoming a certified Film Ready NJ community. The workshop will also feature Film Ready Police + Fire, from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m., designed to educate and train police and fire chiefs in public safety and motion picture and entertainment safety. Register for free by November 14.
