Court Hears Arguments on AG’s Power to Take Over Municipal Police  

On Tuesday, September 4, an Appellate Panel heard oral arguments in a case that the League participated in as amicus involving the NJ Attorney General’s authority to take over the day-to-day operations of a municipal law enforcement agency.

DEP Launches Resilience Funding Program

This week, the NJDEP announced the launch of the “Ready to Be Resilient Stormwater and Resilience Funding Program” to modernize stormwater infrastructure and management strategies. The program is funded by $20 million from the American Rescue Plan.

Assembly Committee Holds Hearing on Cannabis and Municipalities 

On Monday, September 23, the Assembly Oversight, Reform, and Federal Relations Committee received testimony from invited speakers, including the League, to discuss the issue of municipalities’ implementation of State cannabis laws and regulations.

Assembly Housing Committee Holds Hearing on Rising Rents 

On Monday, the Assembly Housing Committee met to hear testimony from invited guests regarding the impact, factors, and potential solutions of rising rental costs throughout New Jersey.

Resumption of Enforcement Mechanisms for Parking Ticket Violation 

Acting Administrative Director of the Courts, Judge Glenn Grant, issued a Notice to the Bar this week regarding the resumption of driver’s license and registration suspensions for parking ticket violations beginning October 1.

LaMonica McIver Sworn in as a Member of the House of Representatives 

Congresswoman LaMonica McIver was sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives on Monday after she was elected in a special election to replace the late Donald Payne Jr. to represent New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District.

Congress Passes Continuing Resolution to Fund Federal Government Through December 20 

On Wednesday, the House and the Senate passed a Continuing Resolution to fund the federal government at current budgetary levels through December 20. President Biden is expected to sign the bill.

NEW for 2024:  Hear from the Candidates for Governor

Be sure to join us for a first at the Conference. NJ Spotlight News Senior Political Correspondent David Cruz will be taping a special episode of his NJ PBS program “Chat Box”  on the exhibit floor at the League. This program will feature declared candidates running for Governor in 2025. The program will be recorded on the morning of Thursday, November 21, 2024. Sept. 30 Early Bird Pricing Ends for Annual Conference Registration

Only days remain to take advantage of the lowest conference registration pricing of 2024. Get Early Bird Pricing by September 30. Register today for the League's Annual Conference.

Early Bird Pricing for Government or nonprofit attendees is $60 for registrants and $10 for spouse/partner. Pricing for non-government attendees is $120 and $10 for spouse/partner. Spouses/partners are not eligible for CEU credits.
