Supreme Court Rules on Municipal Collection of BPPT 

The New Jersey Supreme Court issued a ruling this week upholding an Appellate Division decision involving a telephone company’s obligation to pay the Business Personal Property Tax (BPPT) to municipalities.

SHBP Plan Design Committee Adopts Resolutions at July Meeting 

On Wednesday, the State Health Benefits Program Plan Design Committee held its regularly scheduled July meeting and adopted seven resolutions for Plan Year 2025.

Extreme Heat Resilience Action Plan Released 

The New Jersey Interagency Council on Climate Resilience has finalized and released the Extreme Heat Resilience Action Plan. The Plan sets 136 specific actions to be implemented by individual agencies to mitigate the effects of extreme heat.

Supreme Court Dismisses OPRA Case: Upholding Appellate Ruling

The NJ Supreme Court issued an order today dismissing an appeal in the Rise Against Hate v. Cherry Hill et al. matter. The Court had granted certification in the matter, which it is now dismissing after finding certification was improvidently granted.

League and Fire Organizations Comment on OSHA Proposed Rule Adoption 

The League, along with numerous fire safety organizations, commented on proposed OSHA rules that are costly and difficult to enforce. The letter asked for enforcement flexibility and made recommendations regarding conducting an After Action Report.
