Two Weeks to Restore Energy Tax Receipts

We are two weeks away from the deadline for the State to adopt their FY 2024 budget. Now is the time to act to get full restoration of Energy Tax Receipts included in the state budget.

Court Decision Will Impact Municipal Collection of BPPT

An Appellate Panel this week released an opinion in a case involving telephone company’s obligation to continue to pay the Business Personal Property Tax (BPPT) over to municipalities.

General Election Legislation Update

On Monday, S-3593/A-5175, which makes changes to certain general election deadlines, was favorably reported from the Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism, and Historic Preservation Committee, and will be considered by the full Senate next week.

Governor Signs EO 332 Regarding COVID-19 Vaccines

Following recent changes to federal requirements regarding COVID-19 vaccines, Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order No. 332 to lift the COVID-19 vaccination requirements for health care settings in New Jersey.

U.S. Treasury Clean Energy Tax Credit Webinar

U.S. Treasury is hosting a webinar on direct pay guidance on June 29 at 3 p.m. The Inflation Reduction Act allows tax-exempt entities to get payment in lieu of the credits an entity would have for deployment of a clean energy project.

Lunch & Learn: Department of Labor - (Wage and Hour) Updates for Public Entities

On Wednesday, June 28, at noon, the League will be holding a Lunch and Learn with the Department of Labor (DOL) concerning (Wage and Hour) Updates for Public Entities.

The DOL’s Wage and Hour Division will cover a range of recent law updates. Topics include an introduction to the new online certified payroll for public works projects in addition to seasonal employees, Minimum wage, comp time/overtime, child labor, and earned sick leave. Lunch & Learn: Department of Environmental Protection - Extreme Heat Resilience Action Plan

On Thursday, June 29, at noon, the League will be holding a Lunch and Learn with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) on its Extreme Heat Resilience Action Plan.

DEP’s Office of Climate Resilience (OCR) supports the NJ Interagency Council on Climate Resilience’s (IAC) action plan. The New Jersey IAC is currently developing an Extreme Heat Resilience Action Plan and would like to increase engagement of elected officials in the process. The session will focus on priorities and needs of heat-impacted, at-risk communities. Guest speaker is Nathaly Agosto Filion, Deputy Chief Climate Resilience Officer. Please RSVP if you are interested in attending.
