Update on Special Reemployment List & Temporary Seasonal Workers

An update on Special Reemployment List and Temporary Seasonal Workers was provided during a recent meeting with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission (CSC) and New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC). The League thanks NJAC for sharing this information.

  • Special Reemployment List: CSC reduced the Special Reemployment List from over 10,000 to 540 for a 95% reduction. In summary, CSC removed retirees from the list and established a certification process to remove others accordingly.  This change has already taken place.
  • Temporary Seasonal Employees: CSC has agreed to authorize temporary seasonal employees to work up to 944 hours in any given year, instead of no more than six months as required under current law, with local employers to record and report the hours on a biannual basis.  CSC intends to make changes to its CAMPS system by the end of the year with the new practice to commence in January of 2024.
