Franklinite Designated as New Jersey’s State Mineral

Governor Murphy signed S-1727/A-3393 into law,  designating Franklinite as the State of New Jersey’s official mineral. Franklinite is not only a symbol of state pride, but significant in New Jersey’s industrial history. The Mineral Franklinite was named in honor of Benjamin Franklin and has only been found in Franklin (Sussex) and Ogdensburg. P.L. 2023, C.110 took effect July 19, 2023.
