NJDEP Announces Green Acres Funding

The NJ Department of Environmental Protection’s (NJDEP) Green Acres Program has announced its 2024 funding round for land acquisition, park development, stewardship, implementing Jake’s Law (Inclusive Playgrounds), and Urban Parks projects. The program application window is expected to be from October 2023 through February 2024.

The Green Acres Program will continue to emphasize the importance of community engagement during the park planning phase in this funding round. The NJDEP encourages applicants to begin soliciting public opinion and brainstorming methods of incorporating community needs and priorities into their park plans or land preservation decisions. This process can involve surveys, open houses, and pop-up feedback sessions at local parks and community events.

For additional information, including a list of contacts by county, prospective applicants can visit the Green Acres website.
