Ask Your Legislator to Join Energy Tax Receipt Budget Resolutions

The League, the New Jersey Conference of Mayors, and the New Jersey Urban Mayors Association continue to call for the full restoration of Energy Tax Receipts. As a result of our collective outreach, Senator Greenstein and Assemblyman DeAngelo are sponsoring budget resolutions to fully restore the over $330 million in Energy Tax Receipts Property Tax Relief Fund. Please reach out to your Senator and Assembly representatives and urge them to sign on as co-sponsors to the budget resolutions. Please let Lori Buckelew at the League know after you have made this request of your legislators.

In addition, we also suggest that you use the Energy Tax Receipts Impact Calculator to learn how much this annual diversion has cost your municipality. Share with your legislator and the Governor what this impact means to your town.

Finally, if you have not done so already, please consider joining the now 422 mayors in signing the letter urging funding in the FY 2024 budget to fully restore Energy Tax Receipts.

We thank Senator Greenstein and Assemblymen DeAngelo for sponsoring the budget resolutions. Again, please ask your State Senator and Assembly representatives to join as co-sponsors.
