William G. Dressel, Jr.
Executive Director William G. Dressel, Jr. Announces Retirement
Bill Dressel is Executive Director and formerly Chief Lobbyist for the New Jersey State League of Municipalities. He has held progressive staff positions with the League since 1974 and assumed the duties of Executive Director on July 1, 1995.
Bill manages the broad spectrum of programs and services for the New Jersey State League of Municipalities, which represents all of the State’s 565 municipalities and a membership of over 13,000 elected and appointed municipal officials. The League headquarters are located at 222 West State Street in Trenton. The League has an operating budget of over 3 million dollars and has a staff of 20. The League publishes a monthly magazine, New Jersey Municipalities, conducts seminars and educational workshops on a wide range of subjects, and publishes numerous survey documents, almanacs, and directories. The League also has an Annual Conference each November in Atlantic City and attracts nearly 20,000 registrants. The League Conference is the largest of its kind in the nation. Bill Dressel also supervises five full-time lobbyists who are highly regarded as being the “municipal voice” on both Federal and State Legislative matters.
In 1999, he received the John G. Stutz Award for 25 years of State League Service by the National League of Cities. He served from 1999 – 2001 on the Executive Board of the National League of Cities. On November 14, 2007 he received the Rutgers Award for public service to New Jersey for Excellence in promoting and supporting Municipal Government. On September 27, 2008, he was presented with the Sarah P. Fiske Award by Preservation New Jersey, Inc. for efforts in preserving the Ferdinand W. Roebling Sr. Mansion in Trenton. Bill serves as a member of numerous governmental and association boards.
He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Social Science from Elon College in North Carolina. He also holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from West Virginia University. Some of his leisure activities include running and spinning at WOW, and working on various community projects.
Michael J. Darcy, CAE
Michael Darcy has been with the New Jersey State League of
Municipalities since 1990. He has held a variety of positions including
advertising manager of New Jersey Municipalities magazine; program
specialist in charge of producing seminars; exhibit manager for the
Annual League Conference, which is the largest municipal conference in
the United States; and, currently, assistant executive director.
As assistant executive director, he is responsible for general
administration and multiple complex programs and services offered by the
New Jersey State League of Municipalities, the NJLM Educational
Foundation and the 222 West State Street Urban Renewal Corporation.
He is a Fellow with Leadership New Jersey. In 1999, he achieved the
Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation, conferred by the
American Society of Association Executives. He is a past president of
the New Jersey Society of Association Executives (now MASAE) and editor
of the NJSAE magazine PACE. He is a member of the American Society of
Association Executives. Both his bachelors and masters degrees in political science were conferred by Rutgers University. ×
Director, Government Affairs
Mike started with NJLM in October 1996, and currently serves as the Director of Government Affairs. Mike lobbies on issues related to local government, monitors hearings and testifies before legislative committees and serves as the policy analyst for NJLM’s Foundation. Mike is member and Past President of the NJ Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration and a board member for the Lawrenceville Main Street. He has received a B.A. in History and Communications from Fordham University and an M.P.A from Rutgers University.
Jon commenced his employment with NJLM in January 1986, and is the most senior of the League’s Senior Legislative Analysts. Jon is NJLM’s State Budget Analyst and Federal Relations Coordinator. He compiles press releases to keep local officials informed of developments at the State Capital and advises state officials of the local perspective. Jon has a B.A. in History from St. Joseph’s University and an M.A. in Political Theory from Rutgers University.
Senior Legislative Analyst
Lori has been with NJLM since September 2009 and is a Senior Legislative Analyst. She has a B.A. in Political Science and Criminal Justice and an M.P.A. from Kean University. Additionally, she holds a Registered Municipal Clerk certification.

Kyra became managing editor of New Jersey Municipalities in 1995. She holds a B.A. in English and Education from Wilkes University.

Advertising Manager, New Jersey Municipalities
& Bureau Services and Research Coordinator
Taran has been with NJLM since February 2002, and serves as both Advertising Manager for New Jersey Municipalities and Bureau Services and Research Coordinator for the Bureau of Municipal Information. Taran is responsible for managing all print and web advertising and coordinating research and online educational tools. Taran has a B.A. in Communications from the University of Arizona and an M.P.A. from Villanova University.
Kristin has been with NJLM since May 2006, and serves as the Exhibit Manager. As such, she manages exhibits and sponsorships for NJLM’s Annual Conference in Atlantic City. Kristin has a B.A. in American Studies from Rutgers University.
Danielle has been with NJLM since September 2009. As the Program Specialist she coordinates professional development seminars, continuing education credits for NJLM’s Annual Conference and edits the Mayors Newsline and the Quarterly Affiliate Newswire. Danielle has a B.A. from Montclair State University and an M.P.A. from Centenary College
