This first part of the program will focus on wage and hour issues under the Fair Labor Standards Act that commonly affect public employers.  The second part of the program will discuss the union and management relationship and discuss timely issues pertaining to same.

Wage and hour claims are one of the fasting growing types of employment litigation.  The damages for such violations can be daunting for any employer.  The need to comply with the wage and hour laws and the recordkeeping requirements are vital in ensuring that you are not liable for any violations.  This part of the seminar will focus on the most common employer pitfalls in wage and hour compliance and provide tips in helping you comply with these laws.

In the second part of the program, the panelists, a representative of management and a representative of unions, will discuss timely issues which affect the union/management relationship and offer a perspective from both sides of the table.  Topics will include, but are not limited to, negotiations, health insurance and Chapter 78, interest arbitration, mediation and fact-finding, handling arbitrations, disciplinary matters and other timely issues.
