DRAFT RESOLUTION HONORING AMERICAN TROOPS ON ACTIVE DUTY

WHEREAS, though principled and patriotic Americans can, and do, disagree about particular policies, we all stand united behind those who have been called to serve in the military during the current crisis, and are doing so with great integrity, honor, skill and unmatched courage and devotion; and

WHEREAS, the men and women of the Armed Forces currently face mortal danger, on our behalf, at the hands of a brutal and desperate adversary; and

WHEREAS, far from home, they only ask that we acknowledge and support their willingness to "pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty;" now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Governing Body of ____________________________________, on its own behalf and on behalf of all our fellow citizens, does heartily thank them for their dedication to duty; and be it further

RESOLVED, that we do hope and pray for their safety and success in winning the war of arms and will, and in securing the peace of minds and hearts, so that they may come quickly home to their families, friends and grateful fellow citizens.
