New Jersey League of Municipalities to Welcome Governor
Cabinet Commissioners and Legislative Leaders
In Atlantic City, this week, key State policy makers will come face-to-face with hundreds of local elected officials from all around our Garden State, when The League of Municipalities holds its 93rd Annual Conference at the City’s Convention Center.
On Wednesday, November 19, State Treasurer David Rousseau, Community Affairs Commissioner Joseph Doria, Environmental Protection Commissioner Lisa Jackson (who will soon become Governor Corzine’s Chief of Staff) and new Acting Transportation Commissioner Stephen Dilts will field questions from attendees at the Annual Mayors’ Box Luncheon. The event, which will be hosted by League President Mayor Bob Bowser of East Orange, will take place at Noon in the Crown Ballroom of the Sheraton Convention Center Hotel.
Then, at 2:00 P.M., in Rooms 201 and 202 of the Atlantic City Convention Center, Hope Township Mayor Tim McDonough, the League’s First Vice President, will join NJN Senior Political Correspondent Michael Aron at a special League Session, “Following the Leaders – Key Legislative Policy Makers Discuss the Issues.” The program will feature Assembly Speaker Joe Roberts, Republican Leader Alex DeCroce and Senators Stephen Sweeney and Thomas Kean, Jr, the respective Majority and Minority Leaders in the Upper House.
Finally, on Thursday, November 20, at 12:15 P.M., back in the Sheraton’s Crown Ballroom, Mayor Bowser will welcome the Honorable Jon S. Corzine, Governor of the State of New Jersey, for remarks on the current economic crisis and the prospects for effective action in the coming year.
