New Jersey League of Municipalities Welcomes
Transportation Funding
Governor Jon S. Corzine todayannounced that 372 municipalities will share $78.75 million for local road repair, maintenance and safety projects. The funding represents the Municipal Aid portion of the Transportation Trust Fund and is annually awarded pursuant to an application process.
“The Governor can be certain that local officials will put this dedicated funding to work without delay,” said League of Municipalities Executive Director Bill Dressel. “This, like any, property tax relief funding delivered by the State helps relieve the burden of excessive and regressive property taxes. It also will help to revive our State’s economy and to halt the decay of our vital transportation infrastructure.
“We commend the Governor and the Legislature for all that they are doing to jump-start the economy. They can count on our support on this and on all efforts to take the pressure off of our property taxpayers.”
