MUNICIPAL OFFICIALS TO GATHER FOR BRIEFING ON STIMULUS FUNDING
We commend Governor Corzine, Senator Menendez and Senator Lautenberg for organizing and hosting a major briefing for local officials on how they can best take advantage of economic stimulus programs contained in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). This briefing, which will include presentations by both federal and state program administrators, will take place on May 18th at 8:45am in the War Memorial Theater in Trenton.
We have received responses from over 700 officials, who plan on attending this session.
Earlier this year, Congress passed and President Obama signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009, both of which contained much needed funding and federal initiatives to help Americans get back to work and help get through this recession.
There have been many questions about the initiatives and funding opportunities within these recovery acts. In an effort to better serve the residents of New Jersey, Governor Corzine, Senator Lautenberg and Senator Menendez along with the rest of the New Jersey Congressional Delegation have worked hard to ensure that local officials and the constituents they serve are well informed about the Recovery Act and the goals and missions of various federal agencies. This town hall meeting will, for the first time, bring together all appropriate State and Federal agencies to provide important information and answer all questions on how to best access federal assistance.
