New Jersey State League of Municipalities to Celebrate 95th Year
November 16-19 at Atlantic City Convention Center

The Atlantic City Convention Center will host tens of thousands of public officials when the 95th Annual New Jersey State League of Municipalities Conference comes to town from Tuesday, November 16 through Friday, November 19, 2010.

The four day conference, “Planning the Road Ahead,” is the largest gathering of public officials in the United States.

More than 100 sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including: the Governor’s Toolkit, Ethics, Affordable Housing, Economic Development, Technology, Sustainability, Budgeting, Shared Services and other key municipal issues.  For example, on Wednesday, November 17, a special League session “Legislative Leaders Address Shared Sacrifice, State-local Relations and Government Reform,” will include Senate President Stephen M. Sweeney, Senator Thomas H. Kean, Jr., Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver, Senate Majority Leader Barbara Buono and Assemblyman Alex DeCroce.  For a complete list of League Conference Sessions, visit www.njslom.org.

“The League Conference provides invaluable information and networking opportunities to all New Jersey elected and appointed officials,” said James Anzaldi, League President and Mayor of Clifton.  “By gathering for a week of learning, leaders are fulfilling a critical part of their responsibilities to the citizens of New Jersey.”

More than 900 companies and agencies that provide goods and services will be on hand so municipal officials can compare services and look for the best bargains on behalf of their property taxpayers.

Another key function of the conference is to set the League’s legislative priorities and elect its leadership for the upcoming year.

A number of special breakfast and luncheon programs are also scheduled.

  • Second Annual Sustainable Jersey Luncheon, noon, Tuesday, November 16, Sheraton Convention Center Hotel.  The event will honor all municipal leaders and the Green Team volunteers who are helping to make their communities and our State national leaders in sustainability.
