LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES SALUTES BPU PRESIDENT LEE SOLOMON
In response to Press Reports indicating that BPU President Lee Solomon will leave the Board at the end of this year to return to the Bench, William G. Dressel, Jr., Executive Director of the New Jersey League of Municipalities issued the following statement.
“On behalf of New Jersey mayors, governing body members and municipal property taxpayers, and on my own behalf, I want to thank Lee Solomon for his wise leadership on the Board of Public Utilities. Throughout his tenure at the Board, Lee has carefully and judiciously balanced the needs of ratepayers today, with the need for investments in our State’s energy, communications and environmental infrastructure for the future. And throughout his career at the local, county and State levels of government - and in all three branches at the State level – the people of our State are lucky to have benefited his energetic, ethical, efficient and effective service.
“His energetic responses during and after Hurricane Irene, Tropical Storm Lee and our recent freak October snowstorm are sincerely and especially appreciated by the League and by the Mayors whose constituents were forced to wait far too long for the restoration of power.
“Though we will miss his calm and reasoned stewardship of the BPU, we are grateful that he will continue to serve the people of our great State, as he returns to the judiciary. And we wish him continued success.”
