LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES CALLS FOR URGENT ACTION ON TRANSPORTATION FUNDING
On behalf of New Jersey mayors, governing body members and municipal property taxpayers, the State League of Municipalities has urged the Joint Budget Oversight Committee to take formal action on approving a transportation bond cap carry forward. This action is essential, in order to insure that the existing NJDOT/NJTRANSIT capital programs remain solvent, and that the Governor’s proposed 2012 capital plan is properly funded.
This vital action will contribute, in the short-term, to our State’s economic recovery. And it will provide crucial funding that is critical to our State’s long-term prosperity.
The League has called for action on the bond cap “as soon as practical and, if possible, by the end of the month. This is important, in order to not disrupt any NJDOT/NJTRANSIT capital programs.”
