The New Jersey State League of Municipalities Women in Municipal Government is celebrating Women’s History month with their 2nd Annual Women in Municipal Government Day on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Princeton Marriott Hotel and Conference Center beginning at 9:00 a.m.
As we begin with a new Administration and a new Legislature, we will hear from representatives of the Executive and Legislative branches on their insights and their leadership roles in dealing with the demands of shaping New Jersey’s future in these challenging times. We are pleased to announce that Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver and Attorney General Paula Dow will be our feature speakers.
In addition we will be recognizing the New Jersey Municipal Court Administrators Association with the Public Leadership Award.
Last March, the League’s Women in Municipal Government Committee held its first Annual Women in Government Celebration Day honoring the contributions of women in public service. This successful event was attended by women, representing elected, appointed and government officials, from throughout the State. Former Governor Christine Todd Whitman, our guest speaker, gave an inspirational presentation on capacity building and the importance of women becoming engaged in government at all levels.
