League’s 19th Annual Mayor’s Legislative Day

The New Jersey State League of Municipalities will hold their 19th Annual Mayor’s Legislative Day on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Statehouse in Committee Room 4 beginning at 9:00 a.m. The program will be attended by over 200 Mayors from around the state who will hear from State leaders on their legislative, budgetary and policy priorities for 2011 and beyond. In addition, other key legislative leaders will lend their expertise on Management Reforms, Best Practices Property Tax Relief, Mandate Relief, Best Practices and Consolidation/Shared Services.
The following are scheduled to speak: Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno, Department of Community Affairs Commissioner Lori Grifa, and Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Bob Martin. A panel discussion will be facilitated by, Jim Hooker, Senior Anchor/ Managing Editor NJN News. The panel will include Senate President Stephen Sweeney, Assembly Speaker Shelia Oliver, Assemblyman Louis Greenwald, Assemblyman Alex DeCroce, Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon, Senator Kevin O’Toole, Eatontown Mayor Gerald Tarantolo, Somerdale Mayor Gary Passanante, and Plainfield Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs.
Rounding out the program is the League’s 13th Annual Elected Officials Hall of Fame Induction. It is an honor for the League of Municipalities to recognize those governing body members, active and retired, who have served twenty years in elected municipal office. These special elected officials have governed their municipalities for lengthy terms, guiding their communities through the good times and the troubled times. The Elected Officials Hall of Fame shines a light on these pillars in our communities and holds them up as an example of civic pride for all citizens to emulate.
