LEAGUE PRESENTS $36,000 TO HELP GUARD AND RESERVE FAMILIES

League of Municipalities’ President, Mayor Dave DelVecchio of Lambertville presented a check to Linda Reith, Chair of the National Guard Family Readiness Council, in Lawrenceville.

The check, in the amount of $36,000, represents the proceeds from the Mayors’ Support the Troops Pancake Breakfast, held on April 15, and co-sponsored by the League of Municipalities, American Legion Post 414, the Lawrence Lions Club and VFW Post 7921.

The Family Readiness Council provides Family Grants to New Jersey Army or Air National Guard service members who have been mobilized longer than 90 day within a period of one year, whose families are experiencing financial hardship. It also provides Business Grants to New Jersey Army or Air National Guard Service members who have been mobilized longer than 90 day within a period of one year and were self-employed business owners at the time of being mobilized.  Such grants are for the purpose of helping to sustain the business during the service member’s mobilization or helping to resume the business operations following service member’s de-mobilization.

“The League of Municipalities is proud to support the work of the Family Readiness Council,” said Mayor DelVecchio. “Neither Federal nor State programs exist to address these needs. This is one way we can express our gratitude to our fellow citizens serving their country on active duty in time of war.”
