RE: Lame Duck Update Bills on the Governor’s Desk

Dear Mayor:

Intense Legislative action over the past two weeks has moved many municipal issues to the fore.

In today’s letter, we will focus on bills that have passed both Houses. They now await final consideration by the Governor. Tomorrow, we will send an update on some bills that have recently moved and some, just introduced that may move rapidly, after the First of the Year.

A1645 (With Governor’s Recommendations) - Redefines role and qualifications of purchasing agent in "Local Public Contracts Law."
The bill has passed both Houses and will soon be signed into law by the Governor. For more on this, please see our Dear Mayor letter of November 24.

A-3657 - Concerns extension of certain local government financial agreements.
The League supports this bill, which has passed both Houses and awaits Gubernatorial action.

S-869/A-3056 - Permits municipalities to adopt ordinances requiring bond from landlords in certain circumstances.
The League supports this bill, which has passed both Houses and awaits Gubernatorial action. For more on this, please see our Dear Mayor letter of November 25.

S-924/A-3791 - Requires DEP to notify coastal municipalities of certain settlement discussions.
The League supports this bill, which has passed both Houses and awaits Gubernatorial action.
