Re: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)
On October 1st, Governor Corzine’s New Jersey Recovery Accountability Task Force and New Jersey League of Municipalities co-hosted a seminar for municipal officials that received American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds directly from the Federal government. The Recovery Recipient Reporting Seminar offered vital information about reporting requirements required under ARRA.
The seminar focused on four major funding sources -- Community Development Block Grants, Homelessness Prevention/Rapid Re-housing Grants, Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants, and Byrne Justice Assistance Grants. Participants discussed many of the best practices on how to report are important to every municipality that receives ARRA funds.
Both League of Municipalities President, Mayor Timothy McDonough and Governor Corzine’s Chief of Staff, Ed McBride, stressed the importance of these funds, which are helping create jobs for residents, keep businesses open, and position ourselves in the new green economy. Both emphasized that with this opportunity also comes the obligation to be as open and transparent as possible in managing and reporting the use of the funds.
Please go to www.nj.gov/taskforceresources for the information from the seminar as well as other important information regarding ARRA funding, new training videos and materials will continue to be added. Please remember that the first major benchmark in this process is October 10, 2009, when the first quarterly reports are due to www.federalreporting.gov.
Very truly yours,
