Experts Assess Economic Crisis and Prospects for Recovery
On October 2, in New Brunswick, the League’s Educational Foundation hosted a Blue Ribbon panel of experts for an eagle-eye look at NEW JERSEY’S ECONOMY: STATUS OF GLOOM AND PROSPECTS FOR BLOOM.
Over 200 attendees gathered at Rutgers for this morning program, which featured two panels. First, Dr. James W. Hughes, Dean of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, led speakers Rae Rosen, Vice President/Senior Economist, Federal Reserve Bank of New York; Patrick O’Keefe, Director of Economic Research, J.H. Cohn, LLP and Dennis Bone, President, Verizon New Jersey and Chairman, New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, in a discussion of their perspectives on our Current
This was followed by a panel discussion on the Economic Outlook, which was moderated by Dr. Henry Coleman, Professor of Public Policy, Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. On this panel, looking for signs of hope and recovery, the speakers were Edith Behr, Vice President/Senior Credit Officer & Team Lead, State Ratings Team, Moody’s Investor Services; David J. Rosen, Legislative Budget and Finance Officer, New Jersey Office of Legislative Services; John McCormac, Mayor of Woodbridge, NJ, former New Jersey State Treasurer and James Florio, former Governor, State of New Jersey and founding partner of Florio, Perrucci, Steinhardt and Fader, LLC.
Each panel welcomed questions from an audience of Mayors and other elected officials, serving at all levels of government, and corporate/business leaders interested in hearing the latest on the state of the economy.
