Re: Governor’s Ethics Package
Dear Mayor:
Today in Trenton, Governor Corzine issued a package of new initiatives designed to strengthen public ethics. The Governor’s Press Release and package summary is available on our website (CLICK HERE).
We commend the Governor for his obvious concern with the loss of popular confidence in government and with the loss of faith in public officials. Often serving long hours, days, months and years in the public’s service, for little compensation, local elected officials have always been on the vanguard of honest efforts to promote more honest, economical, efficient and effective public service at all levels of government.
We look forward to thoughtfully analyzing the specifics of the Governor’s proposal. We regret that we were not asked to contribute to the development of the proposal. We will gladly and enthusiastically support any parts of the proposal that do, in fact, lead to more honest, economical, efficient and effective public service at all levels of government. And we hope the Administration and the Legislature will carefully consider our perspective on this proposal.
We will keep you posted on our analysis. For more information, contact Jon Moran at 609-695-3481, ext. 121.
Very truly yours,
William G. Dressel, Jr.
