RE:  Prevailing Wage Threshold Change

Dear Mayor:

The Division of Local Government Services has announced that the State Department of Labor and Workforce Development has determined that the municipal government threshold for the New Jersey Prevailing Wage Act has increased to $14,187.00 effective July 1st, 2009.  Work such as construction, renovation, demolition, or repairs, awarded by a municipal governing body, is subject to Prevailing Wage if the total cost of the job, including materials, exceeds this amount.  The threshold remains at $2,000.00 for work awarded by all other agencies, including boards of education, counties, local authorities, and other local government agencies.

Laws and regulations about the Prevailing Wage Act can be accessed at http://lwd.dol.state.nj.us/labor/wagehour/lawregs/prevailing_wage_law.html.

Very truly yours,

William G. Dressel, Jr.
Executive Director
