TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT

New Jersey State Police Office of Emergency Management will
be hosting a community emergency response team (C.E.R.T.)
train-the-trainer/ program manager course at the state police
academy in Sea Girt. The two day program will be offered
August 13, 14, August 27, 28, September 10, 11 and September
17, 18. The course is open to all police, fire and emergency
management personnel who will be implementing C.E.R.T. training
in their communities. There is no cost for attending this
course. The C.E.R.T. program is a federally sponsored curriculum
that provides citizens with training in disaster preparedness,
basic fire suppression, medical operations, terrorism, light
search and rescue operations, disaster psychology, and C.E.R.T.
team organization. The train-the-trainer program will provide
the basics in managing and implementing the C.E.R.T. program
in communities throughout the state. This program is intended
for agencies anticipating the development of a civilian C.E.R.T.
team in their communities. Attendees will be required to
attend all portions of this program and submit a comprehensive
management plan for their community’s cert team. Training
materials will be provided to all who attend. Classes will
be held from 9am - 5pm. Interested departments and personnel
