Re: STATE BUDGET PASSES
IN BOTH HOUSES
The State’s Budget Bill, A-2800 (S-2009), passed both Houses of the Legislature yesterday and now awaits action by the Governor. Both the Senate and the General Assembly have put all members on notice for possible meetings on Thursday, in anticipation of any line-item or conditional veto actions by the Governor on the budget, or any of the budget related bills that are now before him. The budget bill is available on the legislative website at http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2008/BILLS/A3000/2800_I1.pdf.
Budget related actions were taken on an early retirement incentive for certain State workers, pension reform measures that will affect future public employees, an extension of the “Transitional Energy Facility Assessment,” and other matters.
See our June 18 letter, “State Budget Nears Completion,” for details on parts of the budget directly affecting municipal government. And keep checking the Division of Local Government Services website, at http://www.state.nj.us/dca/lgs/, for specific allocations of the restored CMPTRA aid.
