Affordable Housing, A-500/S-1783 Passes Senate
Today, by a vote of 21-16, the State Senate passed A-500 and S-1783. Unfortunately, the concerns raised by the League of Municipalities and the Urban Mayors Association in defense of a sound affordable housing policy and of taxpayers did not convince a majority of the State Legislature.
We must, however, compliment State Senators Bob Smith, Kip Bateman, Bill Baroni, Robert Singer, Steven Oroho and Gerald Cardinale who spoke on the floor of the Senate and raised very valid concerns.
The bill now heads to Governor Corzine for his signature. For more on this bill, please see our Dear Mayor letters of June 20 and June 17.
Very truly yours,
William G. Dressel, Jr.
