Re: New Information from the Division of Local Government Services on Energy
Dear Mayor:
As you may know, over the last six months the State has enacted new laws and
programs providing local government's new authority and capability to reduce
and improve their energy usage.
To support these initiatives, the Division is releasing three new Local
Finance Notices providing guidance and formal direction on implementing
these new opportunities. Local units that are considering or implementing
programs under these laws should review these Notices carefully and review
them with the appropriate advisors or professionals.
The notices are:
2009-10 Contracting for Renewable Energy Services: Update on Power Purchase
Agreements (P.L. 2008, c.83), including BPU Guidelines as PDF and Excel
documents.
2009-11 Implementing an Energy Savings Improvement Program: P.L. 2009, c.4
2009-12 BPU Local Government Energy Audit Program: Streamlined Budgeting and
Contracting Procedures
The Division's website has added a section for Energy related issues which
aggregates a number of links concerning these issues at
www.nj.gov/dca/lgs/lpcl/#energy.
If you have any questions or concerns about this communication, please contact Deborah M. Kole, Staff Attorney, at the League, Ex. 137, or at dkole@njslom.com
Very truly yours,
William G. Dressel, Jr.
Executive Director
