Municipal Clerks: Please provide copies to all members of the Governing Body and Land Use Boards.

Dear Highlands Mayor:

We have just confirmed that the Senate Environment Committee will meet this Monday, June 7 to consider S-1, Highlands Water Protection and Planning Act.

The Committee had previously been scheduled to meet on June 14. It would seem that agreements have been reached and that the bill is likely to be released by the Committee.

The League put in the mail to you recently a summary and brief analysis of the Assembly amendments. The summary will be posted on our web over the weekend.

If indeed the bill is released by the Senate committee on Monday, it is likely that additional amendments will be included.

If you recall, we outlined what we believed to be an issue of concern to municipalities in our May 26 letter. We are optimistic that our specific concerns detailed in that letter will be addressed by any forthcoming amendments.

We will advise you of any developments.
