Re: Central Jersey Mayors Wellness Campaign “Mayors Healthy Cook-off”
The Second Annual Central Jersey Mayors Wellness Campaign (MWC) “Mayors Healthy Cook-off” will be held starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday June 10th at the Woodbridge Wegmans. Already, five mayors have agreed to participate, including Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac, South Amboy Mayor John O'Leary, North Brunswick Mayor Francis Womack, Haledon Mayor Domenick Stampone and Scotch Plains Mayor Nancy Malool. The celebrity judges include New York Jet all-time return leader Bruce Harper and Senator Joseph Vitale.
The Mayors Wellness Campaign is a project of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute in partnership with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities. The MWC supports mayors as champions of community health. The goal is to increase opportunities for New Jersey residents to participate in daily physical activity with a long-term goal of reducing health care costs secondary to obesity. Through public-private partnerships, the MWC provides structure and resources for healthy community initiatives.
There is still time for additional mayors to participate in this exciting event. During the Mayors Healthy Cook-off, mayors will prepare healthy summer recipes which will be judged in four categories: “Healthiest,” “Best-Tasting,” “Best Presentation,” and “Best Overall.” State of the art facilities for preparing the dishes are available at the Woodbridge Wegmans. In addition, Wegmans will be providing all the ingredients you need for the recipe. (If you have a “special, top-secret” ingredient, you should bring that yourself!)
If you would like to participate or if you have questions, please reach out to MWC Director Emily Littman at 609-393-4931 or by email at email@example.com. This is an exciting event and we hope you will find the time to participate.
