Re:      Important New Information from the
Division of Local Government Services

Dear Mayor:

We would like to draw your attention to some important new information on the website of the Division of Local Government Services.

1. The State Purchase Bureau has awarded a new automotive parts contract to AutoZone, under the U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance. AutoZone has been assigned New Jersey State contract # A71188.  This contract will replace the existing auto parts contract that expires on April 30.  Details about this new program, including AutoZone contact and dedicated website information is at www.state.nj.us/cgi-bin/treas/purchase/showspecialnotices.pl?id=86.

2. The Sustainable Design Committee of the NJ Chapter of the American Planning Association is pleased to announce the creation of a Planning Assistance Program to help municipalities develop a design plan for a specific project site within the community.  This is a competitive program and must be applied for.  The filing deadline is May 30, 2008.  Detailed information can be found at www.njapa.org/rfp/rfp_05_30_08.pdf.

3. The 2008 New Jersey Digital Government Summit will be held on May 8 and 9 at the Trenton Marriott.  With a focus on state and local IT organizations, it's an opportunity for the State's government IT community to meet and exchange information. The agenda is available online at www.govtech.com/events/silo.php?id=143874.

4. Government information technology coordinators are invited to join the NJ Chapter of GMIS for this year's annual conference "Government Information Technology Grows in the Garden State".  GMIS is the nation's largest association of IT professionals who are employed at all levels of government and associated educational institutions.  New Jersey is the largest State Chapter and is hosting this year's conference June 22-25 at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.  For more information, visit www.gmis2008.org.

Very truly yours,
