We would like to ask your support in helping raise awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month by posting the attached "April is Child Abuse Prevention Month" graphic on your respective Web sites, linking to http://nj.gov/dcf/capmonth2007.html.

The state Department of Children and Families will be hosting events and displays throughout the state during the month of April, all of which are posted on the DCF Web site listed by county. If you have any events you would like posted on the DCF Web site for Child Abuse Prevention Month, please contact Kate Bernyk at kate.bernyk@dcf.state.nj.us.

Since 1983, April has been declared as National Child Abuse Prevention Month with child abuse and neglect awareness activities promoted around the country. In New Jersey, Governor Corzine has also declared April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Attached you will find a copy of a sample proclamation, and we would like to encourage you to issue your own proclamations to increase awareness of this important month.
