Safe Kids Week |
Dear Mayor:
Safe Kids Worldwide is a global network of organizations whose mission is to prevent accidental childhood injury, a leading killer of children 14 and under. More than 450 coalitions in 16 countries reach out to local communities with injury prevention messages. Safe Kids New Jersey, led by the New Jersey State Safety Council, has a local coalition or chapter near you and is seeking your partnership
Each year, Johnson & Johnson, the Founding Sponsor of Safe Kids Worldwide draws attention to unintentional childhood injury. During the week of April 28 – May 6, 2007 Safe Kids coalitions across the country will be holding local community outreach events to help celebrate “Make It A Safe Kids Summer” because summer is the deadliest time of year for children. Local programming will focus on the many ways parents can prevent injury to their children – from drownings to motor vehicle accidents to falls to wheeled activities and more.
Please join us. I have attached a proclamation (Word or PDF) for your use. Contact Carol Ann Giardelli, Director, Safe Kids New Jersey at cgiardel@corus.jnj.com or 732-524-3864 for further information.
Through public awareness activities like National Safe Kids Week, together we can educate parents and caregivers about potential risks to children and the adults’ role in preventing childhood injuries.
Very truly yours,
William G. Dressel, Jr.
