THE FOLLOWING IS BEING SENT AT THE REQUEST OF BPU PRESIDENT JEANNE M. FOX. PLEASE DISTRIBUTE TO CLERKS & GOVERNING BODY MEMBERS. WILLIAM G. DRESSEL, JR.

Dear Mayor:

The NJ Board of Public Utilities requests your participation in a statewide effort to join with residents, businesses, municipalities, environmental groups and public officials in support of the Clean Power Choice Program.

As you are aware, the NJ Clean Power Choice Program (www.njcleanpower.com) is a voluntary initiative that gives electric customers the opportunity to support the development and expansion of renewable energy sources - like wind and solar - by paying a slight premium on their existing utility bill. This exciting program already is available through PSE & G and JCP & L and will expand to Atlantic City Electric and Rockland Electric Company territories in April 2006.

In an effort to further raise awareness of the program and encourage New Jersey residents to examine the option of investing in clean power, the Office of Clean Energy would like you to join the Coalition for Clean Power Choice. This coalition, which will be comprised of business leaders, environmental advocates, elected officials and residents, will promote the overall concept of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources.

The time is right for such an effort. For the past several years in New Jersey, thousands of residents, businesses and municipalities have participated in the New Jersey Clean Energy Program so save on installing energy efficient technologies that lower their energy use. The implementation of these technologies is more relevant than ever when one considers the rising cost of fossil fuels and the need to reduce overall energy use while protecting human health and the environment.

As the Clean Power Choice program prepares to go statewide this Spring, we hope you will agree to participate in this important coalition. The attached page lists several ways to show your support. If you have any questions about the coalition or are interested in learning more about the Clean Power Choice Program, please contact Anne Marie McShea at the Office of Clean Energy at (609) 777-3300.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Jeanne M. Fox, President
NJ Board of Public Utilities
