Re:       Sustainable Jersey Goes Live

The much anticipated Sustainable Jersey™ program will go live on February 26, 2009.

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

On February 26th, full details about how to apply for the Sustainable Jersey certification, along with applications for the Sustainable Jersey grants funded by Wal-Mart, will be available on the website www.sustainablejersey.com. Applications for the Sustainable Jersey Grants funded by Wal-Mart will be downloadable from the website and will be due late April. Awards will be made later in the spring of 09. 

TO GET STARTED MUNICIPALITIES NEED TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION THAT STATES YOUR INTENT TO PARTICIPATE, AND DESIGNATE A MUNICIPAL REPRESENTATIVE AS YOUR COORDINATOR AND POINT OF CONTACT.  Copies of the sample resolution and registration instructions can be found at:  www.sustainablejersey.com

SUSTAINABLE JERSEY WILL BE HOLDING INFORMATION SESSIONS FOR INTERESTED MUNICIPALITIES IN EARLY MARCH THROUGHOUT NEW JERSEY. THOSE DATES AND LOCATIONS ARE LISTED BELOW.

At the information sessions representatives from Sustainable Jersey will be on hand to explain the benefits of the program and how to register and mobilize your community resources to begin the program. Organizations presenting may include the NJ League of Municipalities' Mayors' Committee for a Green Future, NJ Sustainable State Institute at Rutgers University, Municipal Land Use Center at The College of NJ, Rutgers Center for Green Building, NJ Department of Environmental Protection, and the NJ Board of Public Utilities.

No RSVPs are needed to attend the information sessions.
