Dear Mayor, Construction Official, and Local Floodplain Administrator:
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) in coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Insurance Services Office, Inc (ISO) and the Jacques Cousteau Coastal Center (JCCC) will be hosting a 4-day workshop on the Community Rating System (CRS). The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) CRS encourages community floodplain activities that exceed minimum floodplain development standards. This in turn results in between a 5% to 45% discount in flood insurance premiums to community residents.
This no-cost to attendee, 4-day workshop (L-278 NFIP/CRS) will be held at the Jacques Cousteau Coastal Center located at 130 Great Bay Blvd., Tuckerton, N.J. 08087 from May 11 thru May 14, 2009. Space is limited and attendance over the four days is mandatory for FEMA EMI course credit. Therefore please plan to if you cannot make a commitment to attend all four days. A draft agenda and registration information can be found at: http://www.jcnerr.org/form/fema_jcnerr_2009.php.
Should you need additional information regarding this workshop, please contact James Watt of this office at (609) 292-2296 or email at james.watt@dep.state.nj.us.
