Dear Mayor:

League President, Mayor Carl Block of Stafford Township has appointed League Board Member, Mayor Tim McDonough of Hope, to lead the League's new Hometown Security Initiative. Under Mayor McDonough's leadership, the Initiative will be the League's link to Director Tom Ridge and the Federal Office of Homeland Security and to Mr. Golan Cipel, Governor McGreevey's Special Counsel for Homeland Security.

We have already been contacted by officials from all around the State, asking how they can get involved in Homeland Security, in general, and President Bush's newly-created Citizen Corps, in particular. In both instances, specific procedures and protocols are not yet in place. But, as they are being developed, you might want to use the internet for the most current developments.

The website for the Office of Homeland Security can be accessed at (www.whitehouse.gov/homeland). The website for the Citizen Corps will be found at (www.citizencorps.gov). We hope to soon add links to these sights from the League's internet address on the world wide web, (www.njslom.com).
