RE: EECBG Program Information
Please pass this along to your Administrator, Manager or Chief Financial Officer.
New Jersey’s U.S. Senator Bob Menendez is doing his best to make the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program a success, but his office has heard there have been some delays. He has personally met with the Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu, to see how to move grants out of Washington quicker, but he also wants to hear more about what is happening on the ground. So he directed his staff to reach out to the New Jersey League of Municipalities to find out how communities in New Jersey are faring in moving through the block grant process.
Specifically he would like to know:
- Do communities have money that is eligible to spend now?
- What delays, if any, have communities experienced in the EECBG program? What is the cause of those delays?
- What communities have applied to the competitive portion of the block grant program? More information on that portion of the program can be found here: http://www.eecbg.energy.gov/about/competitive_grants.html
If there is any other information that you think would be helpful to the Senator as he attempts to make the program work more smoothly and as he attempts to secure more funding, that would be welcome as well. If possible, the Senator would like as much information as possible by February 12.
You should e-mail your responses to Mr. Hal Connolly in the Senator’s Washington Office at Hal_Connolly@menendez.senate.gov
Thank you so much for your help.
Very truly yours,
William G. Dressel, Jr.
