Re:  Support the Troops – March 25, Lawrenceville Armory

Dear Mayor:

The League, as a member to the National Guard State Family Readiness Council, is inviting you to join New Jersey’s life science industry as we salute the troops and their families at a dinner which is being co-hosted by Johnson & Johnson’s Worldwide chairman, Medical Devices & Diagnostics Alex Gorsky, and New Jersey State Association of Pipe Trades President Jim Kehoe, and the National Guard State Family Readiness Council (NGSFRC).  The reception will begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 25, 2010 and will be held at the Lawrenceville Armory (located at 101 Eggerts Crossing Road, Lawrenceville, NJ ) will include a VIP cocktail hour, dinner and drinks, and entertainment.  Proceeds will be dedicated to the NGSFRC fund, which helps deployed and recently returned members of New Jersey’s National Guard and their families cope with the financial and emotional hardships incurred during these trying deployments.

The New Jersey Army and Air National Guard has recently been engaged in the largest deployment of its service members since World War II.  Approximately 13,500 of New Jersey’s National Guard Members are now or have been deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for periods of up to 18 months.

Five years ago, many concerned citizens and civic minded volunteers from around the state, formed the National Guard State Family Readiness Council (NGSFRC).  The Council’s purpose is to provide a myriad of support to service members and families affected by these deployments.

We are grateful if you would consider supporting this very important event. Together, we can make a significant contribution to our troops and New Jersey’s hometown heroes.

Very truly yours,
